Tale of a Flying Fish

Once upon a time, a big fish lived in a lake. This big fish had a big mouth and stomach. Everyday enjoying life to its fullest, especially eating. The fish ate as much as possible. Finally there was nothing left in the lake, no more food for the fish to eat.

One day something glittery appeared. So tasty looking thought the big fish.

Gulp ! Into the mouth !

The fish began to glow. A shimmering light spread slowly from deep within, from head to tail, from fin to fin.

Having eaten a glittery piece of the sun, the big fish filled with light. So full of light, the fish began to float up through the water. Floating upward, floating back to the sun. Swimming in the sky, no longer in the water.

From sunrise to sunset, from the east to the west.

空飛ぶ魚のはなし

昔々、ある湖に大きなさかなが住んでいました。大きな口の大きなお腹の魚で、たいそう食いしん坊でした。毎日毎日なんでもかんでも食べていたので、しまいにはその湖には食べられるものが何もなくなってしまいました。

ある日、お腹を空かせた魚は何かきらきらした美味しそうなものを見つけました。

ごくん！と一飲み。

すると、魚の体はどんどん膨れ上がり、体の奥から光が広がり、頭の先からしっぽまで、ひれの先まで光りはじめました。

実は、魚は太陽のかけらを飲み込んでしまったのでした。太陽の光でいっぱいになった魚はどんどん浮かび、水面を超え、太陽の元へと浮いていき、もはや水の中ではなく空を泳ぐようになりました。

太陽と共に、

日の出から日の入りまで、東から西へ。
